Long-tailed Duck (Clangula hyemalis)
A very elegant arctic diving duck, which lives among other areas in the north of Scandinavia, Canada and Alaska.
During winter as guest also on the Baltic Sea, often far away of the coast on the open sea.
The Long-tailed Duck is the
Sea Bird of the Year 2017.
The diving capacity of the Long-tailed Duck is realy remarkable. Swiss Ornithologists report it dives down more than 50 meters and can stay under water for more than two minutes.
