Alain Fleischer Le Grand Huit, 1988 Worldwide communications are constantly being improved as links and networks expand in the shape of new airline routes, motorways, rail connections, telephone lines, or hertzian and cable networks, to mention but a few. The aim is, of course, to speed up the flow of information, but the flow is now becoming distinctly circular. Every utterance is now passed on from one source to the next in endless repetition, until the chain becomes a perfect loop and begins to spiral downwards in a meaningless vortex of communication. from: festival des arts électroniques, catalogue, Rennes, France 1988 |
