Etna, Sicily
Vulcano Sonification
Sicilian seismologists work together with a studio of electronic music and make
audible vulcanic activities. They try to gain information about the
activities of mount Etna from the progress of the sounds.
By the method of
sonification
digitally measured data, seismograms, are transformed into audible sound
waves. After that the result will be analyzed for patterns and used to
identify possible vulcanic eruptions.
Vulcano Sonification
by Domenico Vicinanza from Conservatory of Music of
Salerno and INFN Catania in Italy.
