Blowing Triton
Park of Castle Wilhelmshöhe Kassel
The
park of castle Wilhelmshöhe
was built in the 18th century.
Central element of this mountain park in Kassel are its diverse and rich
water arts. In the upper part underneath a waterfall is situated
a water theatre with two mythological figures, a triton and
a centaur. They blow their copper horns, that sound following the principle
of water pressure and air extrusion.
Udo Idelberger took photographs of the figures and
recorded the sound. You can hear, how the water organ begins and ends. The middle part has been shortened.
